Gray and Glamorous

Although designer Lisa Martensen's home was featured and photographed two years ago in D Magazine. I still love her freshly curated collection of furniture and feminine objects. And her use of varying shades of gray? Are simply and subtly glamorous!

Holding onto Summer - Beetle Cat - Room of the Week

I adore this bedroom. In fact this entire vacation home featured in September's House Beautiful by designer Mona Ross Berman is fabulous {I'll feature more of her amazing work tomorrow}. The Beetle Cat wall paper by Katie Ridder and custom bunk bed make the room!

A wooden Beetle Cat. Beetle Cat sail boats are only 12' long. They are primarily manufactured in Massachusetts. I love their lines. They are perfect beginner's boat. I can't wait to sign my son and daughter up for lessons.

Room of the week!

I'll keep this short and sweet. It's been a busy, busy week! I love this built in child's room by Christopher Peacock! I can't think of a child who wouldn't love love to live in this room. {the beds may be tricky to make though}! I'm off to Nantucket tomorrow! Be back on Monday. Have a great weekend.

I am by no means overly preppy. {although there is nothing wrong with that}  I do love nautically inspired fashion and rooms! Tis' the season I guess!

Sneak Peek

I still have quite a bit to finish up in Emerson's room but here's a peek at a few things that I have completed.
The light fixture is hung and I've had a couple of pillows made. I'm not sure who made the rose fabric, but it's a classic chintz. The red dot fabric is called La Pluie by Brunschwig and Fils. The bottom image is of the porcelain lattice lamp in her room. I'll of course have shots of her finished room soon. I also painted the walls in Ben Moore's Mellow Pink. It's a beautiful color!

For The Kiddies - Wall of Books

I love the idea of creating a wall of books for children! Here are some perfect examples of what I'm talking about.  The shelves don't look difficult to make at all.  I read to my children all the time. The comfy nook pictured above would be ideal, it's located in a second floor hallway.

Loving - Serena and Lily

The summer issue of the Serena and Lily catalog arrived over the weekend. I am happy to say, every page was inspiring! I love their bedding and was delighted to see that they added some additional "grown up" sized duvets and sheets in beautiful colors and patterns. They also have a few fresh dhurrie rug options. As usual, their kiddie rooms were gorgeous! I am going to try and finish up Emerson's room this month. I can't wait to share the "after" photos with you!
I would love to paint some older wood floors white and add a painted fret work pattern much like this one.
