Luxury of Dining Room Furniture – Between Tradition and Innovation

Modern dining room tables, for example, will highlight mere lines These are the traditional ways that dining furniture may come but in the modern setting, things could be quite different. For example, you can find furniture with unusually shaped legs, bases or tabletops with artistic etched designs. Some dining furniture come with elaborate engravings or etchings in them. Typically, a dining table would usually be weighty especially in the base or leg part, thus, making the whole dining set quite bulky.

Luxury of Dining Room Furniture – Between Tradition and InnovationWhile this is not absolute, this is how things go for the most part in the modern furniture industry. These days, dining furniture can go to extremes of either plain black or plain white. Classic furniture would usually emphasize the grain of the wood which is finished with medium to dark shades. There have been some major changes even in the treatment of wood, along with the finishing and the resulting textures. Comparing traditional and modern dining sets will lead one to discover that the differences don’t only lie in design.

Luxury of Dining Room Furniture – Between Tradition and InnovationThis is where great home memories are built and when it comes to making these memories more special, you can count on fine dining furniture. There’s probably no other place in the home where you could get everyone to share the day’s events, crack jokes and make life just sweeter for having all these special people around. The traditions and values we’ve held on through the years couldn’t come move alive than in the dining room where the whole family gathers for some nice food and great conversations.

The narrow windows with steel window frames of Villa

The narrow windows with steel window frames of Villa
This 1930s house has been completely refurbished after a bad renovation. While everything in the stripped and redecorated, outside carefully taken to restore the period features. These include the narrow windows with steel window frames, are returned to their original state. Extra windows are also added to the door and walls, affording views out from all angles in. Every detail has been considered: the walls and ceilings seamlessly merge window frame and the ceiling even as current flows from inside to outside, where he joined the exterior roof overhang. Opening the doors out onto the terrace outside on the side of the park. This has changed the focus of the entire home from a busy street in front of the sunny back garden.

Explore the house to maximize light, space, ventilation and views on a strict view. We’re looking at a form that is more environmentally sensitive design is called ‘micro-design’. Micro parametric design using a software model that can respond to very small changes to the design criteria for feedback. In this regard issues such as ventilation, maximizing the view and the structural efficiency and minimize the impact to be seen neighbors and shadowing is the main design criteria. Freeform is a response to requirements to maintain view corridors and solar.

Linear house design by Zecc Architecten

Linear house design by Zecc ArchitectenLike the houses surrounding the historic farm, the house has a linear layout. The house was extended by the formation of upper floor into two separate elements that offset towards the front and back end. This produces a silhouette of a separate section which seems to stand out in the surrounding area. What color to distinguish the home from other countries around the house. Of course modern building materials that do work well, but the house is still a good example of how colors can create a unique home among others. Not only the Japanese architect who made the modern houses outside the black. Dutch architect from Zecc Architecten go the same patch with Villa Vriezenveen

SoWa Vintage Market - Boston

I live about twenty miles from Boston, so I venture into the South End for brunch and the SoWa open Market every now and then. I thought I'd share a few shots from my trip last Sunday. We started our day with brunch + a spicy bloody Mary at Gas Light. I love French Bistro's..then my friend, children {I'm starting them early} and I walked down to the market....here's a snippet of our day..

This original map is also available in a print at The Roving Home! {would look cool in a child's room or study}

Tripod Lamp also available through The Roving Home. {an inspiration shot below}

My little "curly blond" assistant, preferred to push his carriage! I often drag him to flea markets and vintage shops, he seems to enjoy it {especially if he scores a match box car or two}! Also, pictured is my good friend, she was checking out a trio of gold leaf tables!

I almost snagged an elephant garden stool. I've wanted to purchase one for my porch for a while. Circa Who, also has a great selection! {below image}

I did purchase this beautiful over sized hobnail vase {i love all things hobnail} from Timeless Settings. I envision filling it with huge peonies or hydrangeas. I quickly clipped some flowers from my yard today! {below image}

of Note: I also collect + wear chunky vintage jewelry, which they had a pretty decent selection of.
The images below are a bit dark but there was also quite a bit of vintage glass, signage and furniture being sold!

liked the "hot pink" lust sign {above - very Sixx Design don't you think?}

peace out for now..have a great day!

Typeface candle holders by Studio Yra

Last time I went to Pulse (a UK trade show), I came across these superb alphabet candle holders. I'm a sucker for anything using typeface like this gorgeous Type map print by Bold & Noble so I got really excited when I came across these wooden candle holders and I was quite keen to add them to our shop.
After reflection, there is such a large selection of size and models (of course there is 26 letters in the Alphabet + the Ampersand symbol) that from a logistic point of view, I think it would be a nightmare for us to stock these....
However, I still think they are great and that you would be interested in knowing about them.
Each letter is made of birch plywood (very eco-friendly) and as they have all different fonts and sizes, they can be used in different ways: standing, lying flat, upside down and they can also be used with both candles and tea lights. You can even paint them for a more personal touch but I love them just the way they are.

Studio Yra is a collaboration between product designer Lina Meier and graphic designer Sara Keranen-Gramner who met while studying at London College of Communication in 2004. Lina went on to do a BA in Product design at Central Saint Martins while Sara stayed at LCC finishing a BA in Typography.
Their online shop is not ready yet but if you call them, you can get yours letters within a couple of days...and I forgot to say...a small letter is £25 and a large one £29.50 + P&P
I hope you like them.....
