Color Story: Fuchsia

A little goes a long way. It's predicted as a hot color for the upcoming (fingers crossed, not too soon) cool weather. Mix it with yellow, camel, charcoal, cream, coral, or navy..you get the picture. Fuchsia works with an array of shades!

Pretty Porches

Outdoor spaces that feel like an extension of the interior? Perfection! I love them and could spend the summer relaxing, eating, drinking and socializing in an environment like the one pictured here. Nancy Pearson designed this fresh and funky space! I think the mix of unexpected color and pattern works well.

Welcome Home - perfectly pastel

Fresh and summery, I'm drawn to architectural accents in sherbet hues right now. Light Pink, Aqua, Mint, Lemon...they're all beautiful. A quick way to add some color to your home is to paint your exterior door in a updated shade.  I also love the idea of painting the interior side to match the exterior! It adds an instant shot of color to your foyer or mudroom.

Watermelon

What's better in the summertime? This cheery palette is refreshing all year long! I am having a few friends over later this afternoon! I think I need to make this watermelon limeade recipe from Martha Stewart!

Ingredients

  • 8 cups chopped seedless watermelon (about 6 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 4 limes)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, plus 2 tablespoons more, if needed
  • 1/2 cup vodka, (optional)
  • Mint leaves
** Note - I made the watermelon limeade on Friday afternoon. It was very refreshing. Be sure to serve it with lots of ice!! The ice thins it out a little! Enjoy.

Room of the week 6.28

It is absolutely gorgeous in Boston today. I love and enjoy every minute of this time of year.
I'm especially inspired by the shades of summer right now! The image above reminded me of the colors and textures of drift wood and sand. This dining room pulls off a casually, sophisticated look. The chairs, pendants and table all work so well together. Love it.

Three words

I LOVE CORAL!
I am soooo thrilled that the warm weather has arrived in Boston! Coral shades can work year round but it is especially appropriate this time of year. I always manage to work this color into my projects and life! I sold the idea of painting a powder room in the cheery shade to a client this past Sunday!

Color your world

I can envision Sis Boom's selection of fabrics, pillows and rugs in a cottage or summer home. They sort of have a granny chic feeling about them!  In any case, if you're looking to introduce some color into your home, any of these items would do the trick. They also sell fabric by the yard!

Inspired = Soft Pink + Tan

I love the soft sophistication of combining pink and tan. The tan beautifully grounds the pink! It's a timeless look for interiors and fashionably works year round! The bottom living room photo is by designer Ruthie Sommers. I have long loved that animal print rug. I would LOVE it if one of my client's agreed!!

Room of the week - Summer Love

I have an insane couple of days ahead of me! So when I saw this screened in porch with a colorful lounge vibe, I knew I had to post it. I can picture my friends and I sipping cocktails on that sofa! Someday Maybe. Open air and screened in porches are fabulous! I am looking forward to the weekend already!

think pink

Sorry about the late post. I've been running lately, I feel like all I do is run, run run... I blog when I really should be sleeping. Anyway as most of my regular readers {and thanks for that :)} probably figured out my life took a crazy turn this past Fall. It's insane enough having a new born baby, never mind life changing drama. I'm moving forward in a positive direction and am starting to focus on my home again!!{which is always so much fun for me}. I was never able to wrap up my daughter's room, so that is my first order of business. I got around to painting it on Saturday. I have painted a slew of mirrors and dressers etc. but I had never painted a room before. It was a goal of mine to paint hers. I finished 90%, and plan on finishing the balance this week!! I never tire of the transformative power of paint, $50.00 and a little elbow grease is all it takes. I LOVE the color. I went with a pale pink; I know that seems so predictable, but pink it just so "well", pretty, and that is what I was going for on the walls.  I previously posted my original boards for the room on my blog here. I've tweaked them a little, but the concept is still pretty much the same. {look for the new boards, with the final selections tomorrow afternoon}. Here's a bit of pale pink inspiration for you. The color I went with is called Mellow Pink {75%} by Benjamin Moore. It's the perfect warm pink. {and looks very much like Palmer Weiss daughter's walls below.}
